oil pastels on paper

wanted to do some abstract.. was very curious about oil pastels.. looks like they are very delicate chalks with an oily composition...did some rough strokes and filled the areas with colours...

water based acrylic on paper

ran out of ideas on paper.. so turned to the wall..

Of the many crazy things i've started doing of late, this one will find a place in Artomania. I felt that someday when i build a dream home, i'll take a room for myself and paint it with different things that capture my attention and add to the room's life... mickey mouse, abstract art, ladybugs and bright motifs. And then it hit me, why wait for the dream home when i already have one? Yes... :) Started painting on my wall.. dunno how permanent these will be.. but that'll just be another excuse for me to do it again. A painting on my wall... used acrylic colours...
P.S. No... my Dad din't have any complaints :)

Yelagiri Trip

This is in continuation to my previous post. Some more snaps showing the park. The household sparrow a rare sight in the city (slowly becoming extinct due to the changing style in the buildings, from old terraced house to apartments).

Another coincidence, the school children in the picture were from a school near our home. They had come on a one day excursion to Yelagiri.

Our recent trip to Yelagiri Hills

About a month back we made a trip to Yelagiri hills. Quite a scenic spot. Nature still survives the human influence. The tourist inflow is much less when compared to Ooty or Kodai . We took the Brindavan Express, got down at Jolarpet junction and took a taxi to the resort at the Yelagiri Hills. You can take a taxi at a cost of Rs.400-600. Nice place to visit.

a tribute to Bill Watterson

I've recently started sketching calvin and hobbes...
Here's one..

This is from the cover of the collection titled "The Days are just packed"
This sketch is a tribute to Bill Watterson who had the great gift of looking at the world through a child's eyes and casting sarcasms at the then current affairs... he also captures many routine activities like school, assignments and competition. But in the end, his main emphasis i believe is the limitless aspects of a child's imagination...
